Alumni

getPart-21Fellow Pi Kapps,

Welcome to the alumni page of the Gamma Gamma Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi. My name is Jason Jones (#469) and I have the honor of serving as the Alumni Chapter President for the 2017-2018 term. First, let me give you some background information. I attended Troy from 83-87 and I am married to Deidre Wilson Jones, who was an active little sister during her time at Troy State University. We have two daughters, Evelyn Grace, 19 and Jade, 10. In addition, I served as the Membership Education Advisor to the undergraduate chapter for six years and have learned much with how the fraternity system has changed over the years and the requirements that the students are held to at the National level.

I would like to thank the alumni for entrusting the leadership of the Alumni Chapter to the entire Executive Council. I know with the following council members, we will continue to raise the bar as those before us have.

Jonathan Brooks (Vice President) held the undergraduate offices of Archon and Treasurer.

Wes Davis (Treasurer) held the undergraduate offices of Treasurer, Warden and Secretary.

Christopher Brooks (Secretary) held the undergraduate offices of Archon, Vice Archon, Warden and Secretary.

Our desire is to unify the alumni chapter, provide a positive experience for both the Alumni and the undergraduates and put any differences among the alumni in the past. We all are from different eras but we all have the same ideals, which is what makes our fraternity great. The original intent of the alumni chapter was to have an avenue to continue the brotherhood that we all benefited from as under-graduates as well as to provide a support system to the active chapter. We plan to continue in that endeavor and increase our participation in supporting the active chapter in the areas that they are in need.

The previous administration did a fantastic job in establishing financial security, keeping the brotherhood going with excellent homecoming activities and starting a scholarship fund for the undergraduate chapter. Two previous scholarships have been awarded and we plan to continue in 2017 with your support. In addition, we will strive to maintain the standards that those before us have set.

A few goals that we have for the next two years include:

  • Increase participation by 10% to allow for us to function appropriately as an alumni chapter.
  • Improve communication though out the alumni brotherhood and the active chapter.
  • Attempt to increase contributions to the undergraduate scholarship fund.

I want to personally challenge the brothers from my year group to lead the way in participation and show why we were #1 on campus in the “old days”.  Even if you can’t attend homecoming, please consider sending your annual dues of $75 to support your alumni chapter. We need your support to reach the goal of making Pi Kappa Phi great again.

I also encourage you to visit the web site and see what the Active Chapter has achieved in the past few years.  I am proud to say that the chapter is not only getting local recognition, but National recognition as well.  Ben Barnett was recently awarded “Archon of the Year” for 2016 along with the chapter achieving “Silver” Status in Philanthropy.  At the local level, the chapter raised $15,000 to assist a local University professor in need.  I would like to also send out a KUDOS to the Brooks family for their generous donation which allowed the chapter to complete the fund drive in record time.  In addition, Ben Barnett received the Order of Omega “Greek Man of the Year” for 2017.

Thank you for allowing us to lead the alumni chapter on this journey over the next two years and with your assistance, we can continue to grow the Alumni chapter and directly assist our active members.

Brotherhood,

Jason F. Jones
